Today I'm reviewing the facial gels that have been sent to me by Dr. Anju Dhingra, the founder of Urban Beauty and an experienced Homoeopathic Physician.

1.) The first one is the Saffron Face Glow Gel that has pure Aloe Vera Gel, Saffron Extract and permissible preservatives as the key ingredients. The 12 gms packing is priced at  INR 79.  The cute li'l transparent tub packing can be thrown in your handbag for frequent usage anywhere anytime. 

 I used this Saffron gel as a day cream because unlike usual facial gels, this Saffron gel is not soap based and can be used as a leave-on gel on face, neck and other exposed parts of the body. The gel has very mild fragrance that seems mixed with some peculiar medicinal smell as well (atleast to me). The smell doesn't last longer, so those who prefer products free of any smell are more likely to use it.

Though the product description in the catalogue instructs to perform a patch test on the back of elbow, I directly applied it on my face and felt no sensation of any sort. It penetrated my skin very soon and left it soft n moisturized in no time.

The skin benefits of Saffron are obvious to all. This Saffron can not only serve as facial gel to provide skin brightening, but can be advantageous as cleanser n revitalizer. I'm impressed with the gentle formulation that I can use it under my eyes to lighten the dark circles.

2.) The another gel I got is a colorless composition i.e Natural All Purpose Gel that is based on Aloe Vera extracts. Just like the Saffron gel can be left on skin after its application, the All Purpose gel works the same. Everything else including the quantity, packaging n price etc. is totally similar in all the gels.

I had got some kind of allergic reaction under my lower lip few days back and I wanted to apply a gentle ointment on that, but could not visit the physician due to my packed schedule. Since that patch was itching me and I was feeling prompted to scratch it again n again, I could not resist using Natural All Purpose Gel to cure that. After 2-3 application, the allergy got visibly reduced and vanished in continuous usage of 3 days. So I appreciate the healing capability of this gel. Infact, my fingers do get minor cuts while chopping veggies etc which was automatically treated when I was putting the gel on my face using my fingers. I feel this gel is very effective in treating burns, infections n skin ulcers etc. if used generously. 

 3.) Yet another gel which I received is the Aloe Mint Skin Toning Gel made up of Pure Aloe Vera extract, Mint extract, permissible preservative and Essential oils. Unlike the two previous gels which I tried, this one is to be applied on wet face and massage with upward circular movements for about 2 minutes, then rinse and pat dry like we do for a face wash.

  This brightly shinning blue gel is very soothing on skin and I felt light calming n cooling effect after I rinsed my face. The mint is one of the most permissible herb to be used as key ingredient in skin care products, so I expected a lot from this gel also. You might be thinking of this gel with a stronger scent, but actually its not. The skin feels firm n toned for long hours when you use it in the morning itself. It can treat any kind of skin inflammation and offers needed anti-oxidants to under-nourished skin.

Overall Opinion:The Urban Beauty gels have active constituents that are natural solutions to many skin problems which arise when we are careless to provide sufficient attention to it. The only drawback is that there is absolutely no detail about the ingredients, price, quantity on the packaging other than the name of the gel. But the label on bigger packaging (50gms at a price of Rs. 689)might have all required details as I can see on the official website.

I'm double minded whether I would repurchase these or not as they cost bit higher than other organic products available. But for one time trial, these are really promising products.

A Chapter of Comprehensive Learning

Teaching, in my views, is a dynamic experience...I mean when we formally teach the students we are the givers of knowledge; but even when we are not even opening the text books, still the process of sharing knowledge is always on.

Teaching is taken in a new perspective in present times. We, the teachers, are expected to eliminate the traditional methodology of rote-learning and present facts to the students that can be retained for longer time span.

I personally see this scenario as a beneficial approach from a teacher's aspect. Because when a teacher  swaps his/her position with a pupil, there is a possibility of 'LEARNING' valuable lessons from younger generation.

Last weekend, I had been involved with the annual show themed as 'Incredible India: Carnival 2014' at St.Soldier, Mohali and here are some memorable moments of the day that left me mesmerized by the talent that was exhibited by my enthusiastic students ...

During the show, India - the abode of cultural confluence, the cradle of human race, the grandmother of legacy and the great grandmother of tradition was deftly showcased in a vibrant manner.

The Indian cultural history had carved a niche of its own. The students from senior school mesmerized one and all by putting up a fabulous exhibition that depicted the myriad hues of five zones of the motherland viz. North, East, South, West and Central.

The unique cultural diversity and vibrancy of India was beautifully presented through folk dances from various zones beautifully choreographed by the popular 'Dance Pe Chance' Academy from the region. From Punjab’s Luddi, Kashmir’s Bhumbroo , Rajasthani’s Kalbelia and Ghumar , Maharashtra’s Lavni to Gujarat’s Dandia, South India’s Kathakali and Bharatnatyam; each and every performance entertained the audience.

The highlight of the show was the Puppetry Show-‘Namak Ki Keemat’. Soulful rendition of folk songs of different areas, models of ancient architectural specimens and monuments made by the students stood testimony to the rich legacy and varied culture heritage of India.

The traditional food and cuisines of different zones tickled the taste buds of every connoisseur and satiated the palate of gourmets with mouth watering catteries and delicacies. The mega event ended with the grand finale ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ conveying the message of unity in diversity.

By the end of the day, every bone of my body was aching since we all had toiled for almost 3 weeks for this show, but the grand success of the show plus the contentment of getting to know the trivia of my own nation was the reward of every minute spent there.

Fuschia Strawberry Passion Handmade Soap Review

             Today, I am reviewing  Strawberry Passion Handmade Soap by Fuschia. 

Fuschia Strawberry Passion soap comes packed in thin cling-film kind of plastic sheet finely sealed around the soap bar. There is lovely printed handmade sheet that holds the soap cake in it. Even without opening the soap packing, I could smell nice sweet fragrance of this gorgeous dark pink soap.

Price n Qty: 

The Fuschia Strawberry Passion Handmade Soap of net 100 gms is available at a price of Rs. 225. 

Ingredients:

Nothing as such mentioned on the packing regarding what has been used as core ingredients while making this soap. But the brand claims the presence of natural ingredients, fragrances and essential aroma oils in all their soaps.

My Experience with Fuschia Strawberry Passion Handmade Soap:

The Strawberry Passion is glycerin based soap and I like its translucence look. The darker pinkish shades gets lighter with frequent usage. It lathers sensibly ok as I expected, but is soft n creamy on skin. There is no overly-soapy feeling that itches on skin. After rinsing off the lather, it wasn't that dry feeling but I cannot survive without moisturizing generously, so coated my skin with a layer of my fav body lotion.

• I could not relate the fragrance to the real strawberry smell exactly. (It might be due to mixing of other ingredients while making the soap which I'm not sure of)

 

Final Words: 

I feel this mild soap can do miraculous job on acne prone skin. The gentle cleansing can leave your skin soft n soothing. It doesn't causes any allergies or irritations. I'm making no false claims here, but those in love with strawberries can buy it to satisfy their skin's craving :)

 

Ethicare Remedies Hydrofil Emollient Lotion Review

      
               Emollients are the companions I always rely on when I need to make the external layer of my skin softer and more pliable. My eyes usually set on emollients lotions or creams firstly, when I go to supermarket for purchasing. I love trying newly launched products to find a well balanced formulation.

              In the recent times, I have been using a non-cosmetic moisturising lotion that is actually the best one till date. I'm talking about Hydrofil Lotion from Ethicare Remedies .
Ethicare Remedies Hydrofil Emollient Lotion comes packed in a cardboard box in soothing pink n white colors. The cardboard box has a thick transparent sheet in the middle to display the lotion pack inside without even opening the sealed pack.

              The main packing that contains the lotion is a stocky white plastic bottle that can bear any shock or pressure but will stay intact. I liked the slightly curvy shape of the bottle that enhances its grip in hands.

The bottle has flip open cap with a hole piercing to ooze out the liquid from the small opening.

            The net content in this pack is 100 ml priced at Rs. 132. But you can save a lot if you go for a bigger pack of 400 ml that costs just Rs 399. The shelf life is 36 months from mfg date.

 How did I feel after using Ethicare Remedies Hydrofil Emollient Lotion?

            

                I apply emollients as often as I need, may be because of the requirement of my overly dry skin. Infact, you can find a small packing of a good moisturizing lotion in my handbag all the time.  As I rubbed Hydrofil Emollient Lotion for the first time on my hands, I felt tempted to try it over other body parts as well. My skin could soak up the thick white lotion very easily. There was absolutely no sign of applying a greasy fluid on my skin. 

            The uplifting fragrance didn't itch my sensitive nose, though few might find it li'l overpowering. But for me, the fragrance is as sweet as of a rose. So I loved myself smelling nice. 

         The lotion does its job in very minor quantity for single usage. Those with normal to oily skin type will be satisfied with its results even if they apply it once in the morning and will seal the moisture within skin for entire day. But frankly speaking, I need to reapply it atleast twice a day bcz its damn annoying to see dry, flaky skin.

           I would specially highlight here that Hydrofil Emollient is available in cream base also. So if you feel more comfortable using moisturizing creams, you can go for it with equally excellent spread ability.
