'Traditional Meets Western' Style Saree Drape - Week 5

Hello Girls

I did some traditional and modern style of saree drapes in past 4 weeks for #Dare2Drape challenge by Triveni Ethnics.
Here are the quick pointers for those who were missing the posts

#Week1  - Bengali Inspired Drape,
#Week2 - Wrap Around style
#Week3 - Sassy Sarong style,
#Week4 - Desi Ghagra Style
For #week5, I merged the elegance of traditional and modernity in the drape style called
'Traditional Meets Western' that looked like this :)

The traditional saree drapping creates quite a sensuous look for most women. Just the name of a saree brings in the anticipation of something that can't be ignored as an outfit. Even a non-glamourized look, if done with grace, never fails to impress the fashionistas.

There is nothing wrong in experimenting with your saree styles till you get it very right and are applauded for it. With this thought in consideration, this time I have created this casual saree look with a simple summer top as an alternative to its jazzy, blingly blouse.

Since its a half n half saree with floral prints all over and plain pallu with embroidered flowers and no fall attached to its bottom, I reversed the saree while draping to get the floral print on the top. That simply means I have tied the pallu on inner side. The rest of the drape goes just the usual on the waist line with few pleats and then accessing the open pallu from the back of my left shoulder coming to the front. The long flowing pallu is tied loosely on my right wrist so that a floral veil brightly decorates the plain top and looks gracious. :)

The Desi Ghagra Style Saree Drape - Week 4

Hello Girls

How are you liking my draping styles that I am doing since few weeks.

After #week1 talking about Bengali Drape, #Week2 concentrating on girly Wrap Around style and #week3 exhibiting Sassy Sarong style, this #Week4 is dedicated to lovely ladies who wanted a classic drape :)

For the women who are more into traditional style of draping a saree, the Desi Ghagra is an all-time favourite, eye-catching pattern for festivals, weddings and other formal occasions.
In attempt to give a usual saree the Ghagra look, I have kept in mind to tuck in less amount of fabric in the petticoat every time so that the saree touches the floor like a desi ghagra. Now, after you start with initial tucking of saree, do leave a gap of almost an inch, make a little pleat and tuck in. Repeat making these little pleats till you reach in the front creating a flared gathering of fabric. (A few front pleats will add up the volume if you want, else can be skipped).

Now make regular sized pleats of your pallu and bring it from the back showing up to your right shoulder. In the process, you will find a loose drape around your left hip which can either be tucked in or can be left loosened to give it more of traditional look (like I have done).

Hope you liked this week's entry too..Till the moment I decide another style, please do share some love in comment below..

The Halter Style Neck-Knot Sarong Drape - Week 3

I'm getting lovely remarks from my lovely readers for my two previous looks that I have created for #Dare2Drape challenge by TriveniSarees.com in Week1 and Week2. Thanks for keeping me encouraged all the way..

If you missed looking at those, go through the last two posts by quickly clicking on Bengali Inspired Drape and Wrap Around Style Saree Drape.

Now coming to my look for #Week3, I have donned the Halter Style Neck-Knot Sarong Drape that turned out to be like this...

Sarong is a sassy yet elegant way to dress up while chilling out at beaches or spending leisurely time holidaying at hot climate areas. I like sarong dresses because of its light weight, flowy material that makes you look effortlessly stylish.

To convert a saree into a sarong, I held the saree in a way so it laid horizontal to my body and folded it twice. Then taking the folded saree behind my back, I aligned the saree just below my shoulder blades. Now grabbing the two top corners that will come around the front of my body, I covered my bust line and criss-crossed the corners of the saree across my bust line. At the final step, I tied the corners behind my neck that resulted in a more modest saree drape style. And to accessorize it for an oomph, a beaded belt around the waist line did wonders :)

If you have an idea on how to use a saree differently, do share in comments below.

The Wrap Around Style Saree Drape - Week 2

Continuing with the #Dare2Drape challenge by TriveniSarees.com, the second style that I did in #Week2 is The Wrap Around Style Saree Drape.

Here is the glimpse of actual saree that I am using as wrap around skirt..
Wrap Around Skirts are quite popular among girls. My main reason of liking it is the convenience that it offers to fit on waist line. It can be a stylish drape for any kind of casual or semi-formal occasion. To utilize my saree in the Wrap Around Skirt pattern, I have folded the saree twice lengthwise, making it four-folded to reduce wrapping effort around my waist. I dared to pair it with a black Spaghetti Top and then layered it up with a biker jacket to give myself cozy warmth. A statement necklace is the only accessory that I have used to complete the look. In no time, I am ready to sport my comfy yet smart dressing.

How did I fare in the challenge this time? Do let me know in comments below...

The next week again, I am going to style the same saree another innovative way ..So keep watching this space for more..
