Sun Defense Range from VLCC

VLCC had rolled out a high quality sun care range after extensive technical research that is claimed to be paraben free. It is said to leave no white layer on the skin, while ensuring that the skin is nourished and protected. There are many products in the sun care range of VLCC including sunscreens, face wash and face pack etc that are aimed to provide ultimate sun protection and are packed with unique benefits of respective ingredients. I was sent a few of these to try and this is what I've to share...

The Neem facewash is boosted by Chamomile and Tea Tree as supporting ingredients. It has gel-like texture and consistency. I find its fragrance quite refreshing and not disturbing. It's a great choice for acne-prone skin, but since I'm blessed with clear skin without any pimples, I cannot comment on how effectively it works. My husband who has combination skin, found this facewash suitable during summer days to reduce oiliness of T-zone. When I wash my face with it, I need to feed my dry skin with moisturizer else it stretches. Owing to its herbal ingredients, it's soothing on skin and also easy to carry around.

The continuously sun-exposed skin is destined to get tanned and patchy. To prevent the skin from darkening, the VLCC Sun Block lotion with SPF 40 is highly recommended. It's enriched with Comfrey plant extract that is a potential herb to heal skin of minor issues. The sunblock smells good and takes a moment to sink in skin. But once it does, it doesn't sweat afterwards. The main reason to like this is the SPF content which is extremely desired by people in hot regions like ours. Priced at Rs 115 for 30 ml

I know summer outing and holidays are fun. No doubt that skin care takes a back seat when we're making moments outdoors hanging out at the pool or the beach. If the skin is exposed to sun and is showing signs of dullness or darkness, VLCC Clear Tan face pack can be opted to get rid of sun tan. The cucumber extract is well known for skin lightening. The pack is in cream form and spreads easily. It's quick to dry up and has to rinsed off. After every use, it reduces the effect of tan from skin and skin looks brighter. Priced at Rs. 110 or 30 ml. These tiny packs are suitable to carry while traveling. 

Another variant of Sun Block is enriched with goodness of Sandalwood. It's a light textured white cream in thin consistency. Its' easy to apply evenly without extra massaging. I remember myself using sandalwood pack during my young days and I trust its efficacy in minimizing darkness of skin arising out of excessive sun exposure. But if the low SPF 20 in the product bothers you, reapplication is the key. All other aspects of a good sunblock are in line with good quality.

I had to struggle really hard to reach the venue in time on the scheduled day, as it was a working day for me, but I managed to ;)

To my delight, I got a warm welcome by courteous VLCC staff including Ms. Manveer, the Cluster Head for Wellness Services. The event began with an introduction to Ms. Sushmita Verma, the VLCC Category Manager for Beauty.

The bloggers had so much to ask about the common problems related to skin/hair/nails/health issues that almost everybody faces at some point of time, and the lady furnished some valuable pieces of information out of her expertise in the area. She made us well-informed about Visionergy, DNA Diet, Vampire Facelift and many other Dermat services in which the brand specializes.

While we jotted down some practically workable tips for attaining youthful, stress-free skin; the in-house dietitian Ms. Bipasha joined the conversation and apprised us with excellent ideas to enjoy a healthy lifestyle by incorporating right kind of fruits/veggies/liquid diet in appropriate quantity in our meals so as to boost our physical well-being.

It was great effort by Ms. Bipasha to recommend and get served a guilt-free snacks palette for us that was simply delectable ;)

 And that's my share ;)

While we least expected it, the hall echoed with the sound of applauds to welcome none other than Ms. Daphne Danielson, the international skin expert of VLCC. I was impressed by the way she conversed with every single person during Q&A session with a lot of poise and left no query unanswered. She'd been unquestionably knowledgeable and proved her worth by familiarizing us with pros n cons of popular therapies, treatments or products which are a rage in the industry for hair treatment, nail extension, dermatological services and everything else. I felt truly in love with her sense of humor that was an instant stress-buster for everyone ;)

A few bloggers got an experiential service as well wherein they got to pamper themselves with massages etc, but I couldn't avail as I was pressed for time. (better luck next time) ;)

After a fruitful afternoon spent at the VLCC Wellness Centre, I came back home richer in knowledge for self-wellness, building a stronger bloggers' network and holding a lovely goodie bag in my hand ;)

My #VLCCStyleStatements Experience at Chandigarh

I've been associated with World of Moms, an exclusive online community for moms, since past few months. WOM has given me a wonderful platform to express and exchange my views on motherhood (parenthood) and has gotten me acquainted with various hacks and tips to be a better mom in every possible manner.

As mothers are always over-burdened with responsibilities of their families and kids, WOM recently went an extra mile to comfort mommies like me who barely get any self-pampering time. It all began when I was asked to choose a date and time slot as per my convenience. My appointment was scheduled and confirmed without any hassle. On reaching the venue, I was greeted by the salon in-charge. She explained to me the benefits of Envia Charm Facial as an advanced beauty service beyond an ordinary facial.

I could see a fresh Envia Charm Facial Kit being opened for me. Due to my curiosity, I devoted a good ten minutes reading labels of all the products, understanding about the different components of the service.

I was really impressed to know that Envia Charm is a paraben-free facial with Orange, Lemon, Mulberry and Saffron extracts. 

The products used throughout the facial are rich in antioxidants such as Vitamin A, E, and F, which encourage collagen synthesis. This facial also contains naturally reduced Glutathione which is a very powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals and gives a fairer complexion.

The lady began with cleansing to substantially remove dirt, pollutants and excess oil from my face and neck, followed by applying an astringent toner. It was followed by applying an exfoliating gel. Simultaneously, I was given steam with a firm yet gentle massage. Extracting the blackheads and whiteheads had been really painful for my sensitive skin and gave me teary eyes, but my nose felt really clean later. This was again followed by a toner.

Next she massaged my face and neck with a shiny massage cream derived from natural botanical extracts; she massaged it completely into my skin, till it was fully absorbed. I was in a state of total relaxation and could have gone off to sleep if I allowed myself to!

Finally, a peel-off face mask was applied. I actually expected it to be the concluding step for the facial, but I was given one more round of massage with the Eventone cream that was meant to give sun protection as well as long lasting hydration. The process ended with placing a sheet mask on my face soaked in hydrating serum to improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles.

Though my intention wasn't to attain a fairer looking skin tone in a day, that is exactly what happened. My skin truly looked super clear, clean, and fairer, post the Envia Charm Facial. My skin gets tanned quite a lot due to extensive driving everyday; but this facial treatment gave my skin a radiant glow and an overall youthful look with a telling difference.

When you plan a party, you plan many other things including the venue, menu, guests, your outfit and ofcourse your makeup. Before you start getting ready for that special day, you face should bring about the natural radiance. As the festive season has already begun, I'm sure pretty girls night be pampering themselves with luxurious sessions at salons ;) And for those busy bees like me, who cannot spare enough time to visit a professional beauty parlour, VLCC has its Party Glow Facial Kit to make me glow for the special occasion and that too at the comfort of my home.

Almost a month ago, I tried VLCC Anti-tan Facial Kit and the result was too good that I wanted to try another variant in the range. VLCC has total 7 variants in their single facial range, and this time

Product Claims:A revolutionary, 6 Step Facial System that helps you get that Facial Glow at the convenience of your home. It’s a Do It Yourself Facial Kit, which allows you to get your facial done, all by yourself. It comes in the form of a Kit which combines all the steps that a facial session needs combined with products made of natural ingredients & VLCC’s years of expertise.

Similar to the other facial kits that VLCC offers, this one is also a 6-steps facial system. The steps are followed in specific order with specific product type. You will find 6 individual sachets or tubes which are numbered for easy reference. The ingredients and usage directions are also printed on individual sachets to guide you perform the steps without any confusion.

Step 1: Comfrey Cleanser cum Toner

Prep your skin by massaging Comfrey cleanser cum toner on the wet skin, massage for few minutes and wipe it off with a damp cotton pad. This cleanser not only removes external impurities off the skin but also minimizes pores as a preparatory step. Comfrey is a flower whose extract helps to promote new skin cell growth. It has anti-inflammation properties too.

Step 2: Indian Berberry Face Scrub
This unique scrub enriched with Papaya Seed & Dates extracts that exfoliates, retextures & gently moisturizes the skin. A thin layer of this scrub should be evenly spread all over the face and neck. Leave it to work for 2 minutes and then gently rub it to slough off dead n damaged skin. My dry skin felt really soft and deeply moisturized after rinsing the scrub from the skin. It also reduces tanning to certain extent. Dates also also said to have anti-ageing capabilities. I liked that unlike anti tan facial kit, its not a powdered scrub.

Step 3:Saffron Massage Gel
After the gentle scrubbing, I paused for few minutes to relax the skin. And then used ultra light gel enriched with Mulberry & Saffron extract. The gel helps to lighten & brighten the skin while giving supple feel. Both the ingredients used in this gel naturally improve the appearance of skin by restoring lost radiance, as they are believed to treat dark spots and blemish too. I found it so soothing and smelling lovely.

Step 4: Snigdha Face Cream
This cream is enriched with skin-lightening co-agents like Mulberry and Lemon Peel extract that lightens skin pigments without dehydrating the skin making it visibly fairer and radiant. There is no doubt in the efficacy of the product as you start noticing the difference as you are through first 2-3 steps. The cream penetrates easily with light massage and you may feel like touching the kissable soft skin ;)

Step 5: Insta Glow Face Pack
The pack is the finishing step of the facial as you might be expecting. It has to stay on the skin until it dries up completely which may take around 15-20 mins, so you may need to sit and relax patiently. After you wipe it off with wet sponge or cotton pad, this creamy pack with Lavender and Rosemary extract will brighten the complexion, giving you a characteristic luminosity. Further filled with goodness of Saffron & Hazelnut extract, this pack is bound to add to your glow instantly. 

Step 6: Oil Free Moisturising Gel
Considering this gel as an additional step, I feel it provides you with a protective shield from harmful UVA & UVB rays for its SPF 15 with PA+ formula. You may or may not follow this step, but if you stepping out immediately after getting your facial done, then its a must-do so that the delicate skin may avoid external sun damage. I wish the SPF rating would have been higher.  

The brand claims this facial kit is for single use, but I'm sure one can easily get atleast two facial done in the quantity offered. I advice to follow up with the same facial routine to maintain your renewed skin every 3-4 weeks for lasting effect.

VLCC Snigdha Everyday Skin Whitening Essentials Kit Review

VLCC skin care has a Skin Whitening products' category wherein they offer an array of products meant for improving the skin tone. This range is named Snigdha which is a hindi word and means resplendent or shinning. 

All the products in this category have a cute white n pink colored packaging theme. This category includes face wash, mask, day cream, night cream, and serum. Though the products are available for individual purchase, the brand has packed three of the products namely Day Cream, Night Cream and Face wash to constitute a lovely kit.

Before I talk about my experience with these products, I would suggest you to note that the kit is priced at Rs 810/- which totals for only Day Cream and Night Cream price that's Rs 405 each and the benefit of purchasing the kit is that you get the face wash worth Rs 155 for FREE.

As mentioned, the kit has a day cream, a night cream and a face wash in it. The creams have identical packaging, only the labels on the containers differ in description of the product. The cream containers look decent yet stylish due to their nice dome-shaped screw lid. The facewash comes in usual tube format and has flip open cap.

Ingredient List : The exhaustive list of ingredients of all three products is printed on the kit and also on each product respectively.

My Experience  Expectations:
Who doesn't want to flaunt fair skin? Most women would do anything to look fairer than how they look. But I swear I'm not a part of that race, despite the fact I'm not a fair-looking beauty. I totally admire my skin tone whatever name it has ;) So using these so called 'skin whitening' product range, I didn't have slightest of the expectations to look fairer in next few weeks or so.

My Experience:
On the brand's recommendation, I've been feeding my facial skin with natural skin essentials offered in form of these creams after cleansing the face with the face wash for more than a fortnight on regular basis. The only primary concern was whether these products are friendly for my skin type or not.

The face wash having Aloe Vera and Saffron extracts is so invigoratingly scented that I feel myself surrounded by aromatic flowers. Though the smell fades away as you wash splash water on your face, but leaves you really rejuvenated.

The glossy textured, white colored face wash has runny consistency and requires just two drops to clean the top surface of facial skin gently. The skin neither feels stretchy nor greasy, so it may suit all skin types. It gives a temporary glow to skin that shows the removal of pollutants off the skin to help the skin breathe well.

After a morning face cleansing, I apply the day cream before I leave for office. The Snigdha Day Cream has Liquorice and Mulberry as the main ingredients. Liquorice, the root extract is infused with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It prevents skin darkening caused by sun damage and fades away pigmentation. Mulberry regulates the process of melanin synthesis and helps in formation of a protective pigment found in inner layers of epidermis.

The day cream is light on skin and penetrates into skin with light massage. It settles into matte finish, but without leaving a whitish cast behind. Initially it felt not-so-moisturizing, but as I leave it for few minutes, the cream blends nicely to make the skin feel better & look even-toned. The best part of the Day Cream is that its enriched with SPF 25 which is just the fine (but could have been better with PF 30+).

The night skin care regime again involves removing the dirt and grime off my face using the face wash and then applying the Snigdha Nigh Cream. The night cream is made up of Comfrey and Niacinamide. Comfrey initiates cell regeneration, aids wound repair, accelerates skin healing, and possesses anti-inflammatory property. Niacinamide has skin lightening and anti-ageing properties.
The night cream is on greasier side as compared to day cream. It feels more of a heavier emollient and gives extra hydration on application. It truly satisfies the need of ultra-moisturization for my dry skin. I get up in the morning wearing genuinely revitalised skin.

After a continuous use of these products (mainly the creams), I can conclude that Snigdha product range from VLCC syncs quite well with my dry skin type and provide nourishment to keep it supple n healthy. It has promoted even-complexion and fine texture on my face. I expect to flaunt firm and flawless skin better way in coming time..

VLCC Wild Turmeric Face Wash Review

Facewash is one of the most frequently used skin care product for most people. It is advised by most skin care experts to wash your face with a gentle facewash atleast twice a day, in the morning and at night. Because just splashing water on your face is never enough to remove dirt, sweat etc and bring your skin back to 'clean' state.

For some personal care products, I'm quite particular to use products based on certain ingredients or coming from certain brands; but for facewash I don't mind switching to one that suits my dry skin type after every few weeks and so.

Today I'm sharing how the VLCC Wild Turmeric Facewash fared for my skin..

Product claims:
Wild turmeric, used in numerous Ayurvedic products, is known for its skin purifying and healing qualities. It is loaded with anti-oxidants and has anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties. The yellow pigment in the turmeric makes the skin look brighter. Wild turmeric along with Honey, which is another great natural anti-septic and a rich hydrator, makes this facewash a refreshing, gentle cleanser that removes microbes and pollutants from the pores and protects the skin against environmental damage. Use this daily for clear, brighter complexion.

Key Ingredients

Termanalia Arjuna (Arjuna Bark Ext) 0.6%, Euphorbia Thymifolia (Euphorbia Seed Ext) 1.2%, Cucurma Aromatica (Wild Turmeric Ext) 2.25%, Sapindus Trifoliatus (Soap Nut Ext) 5%, Apis Mellifica (Honey) 2%, Cleanser Base Q.S

Price: Rs. 140 for 100 ml

VLCC's skin defense range has listed Wild Turmeric Facewash in it that comes in a soft tube. The tube has print all over about its ingredients, usage method, brand/product info which covers the tube and prevents seeing inside. But a part of the tube is intentionally left transparent to keep a check on the quantity left in the packaging as you start using it.

The facewash is golden yellow in color and has floral scent to it. The scent revives your senses as you cleanse your face with it. The consistency of the product is like usual facewashes, not so thick but more on runny side. On applying the facewash over moistened skin, it doesn't create much foam; but cleanses impurities off the skin. Just 2-3 drops of the liquid suffice to do the job, so this 100ml pack would surely last for more than a month despite everyday use by one person.

The product claims to be an antiseptic formula for its turmeric extracts, so I expect it to be effective for curing acne (though I've not experienced it as I have no acne). The turmeric in the facewash brightens the face after use, but thats not a permanent glow since the product is meant for cleaning the surface of the skin. But yes, it will keep the bacterial infections at bay that usually occur in summer season.

Upon using this facewash, my skin feels just the normal; neither overdry, nor much hydrated which the other ingredient Honey should have done. The skin doesn't feel stretchy as such, and I may leave it like that. But I'm sort of habitual of layering my skin up with mild moisturizer, so I do that after using this facewash too for maintaining the skin elasticity. I feel this facewash would be loved more by oily skin type and it will removes excess oil very well.

In a nutshell, VLCC Turmeric Facewash is a good option for every day facial cleansing round the year that won't cause any breakouts and will control excess oil secretion effectively. For normal to dry skin, one needs hydration of skin post usage.
