A Journey from ‘OR’ to ‘AND’

Let me begin by asking you ladies "How happy you honestly feel you are with your life?" Most of you would atleast spend few seconds to think before acclaiming "I am very happy with my life with no complaints".  Many women second this thought that they had been fed up being rolled like a ball from 'either This or That' to sacrifice their dreams n wishes, when it comes to make personal choices...
She had been no better fortunate... but had no complaints to anyone rather always felt content with her family's happiness n progress. But there is always a time in every women's life when the only thing that helps her is her own DECISION. She had to take a stand that day to ditch "OR" and embrace "AND". She could not dare to abandon her first baby girl AND decided to escort the new life till her last breath.

The woman whom I am referring is my loving mommy who had the guts to have her say to keep her baby girl alive with all her inner willingness. And so I am here talking to you :)

I have li'l something to say about her how her "AND" formula worked miraculous for my life...

When she conceived me in her womb, she wrapped in her my body AND my organs.
When I was growing, she shaped my views AND my thought process.
When I was aspiring, she nurtured my dreams AND my talents.
When I stepped out, she counseled me well AND darted to check if my world was safe.
When I was ready to accomplish, she honed my skills AND my career.
When I was in love, she welcomed him AND gave me happiness of lifetime.
Today, she regrets nothing, to see her daughter successful AND happy.
Her soft hands AND firm spirits I hold that guide me like none other.
Hey, I treasure the parts AND parcels of having an affectionate mother.

Mommy is the one who made my heart richer with this feeling that I can achieve a little bit of THIS & THAT & Everything Else, if determined.

Valentine Romance My Way

"I'm not an actor, I'm not a star. And I don't even have my own car.
But I'm hoping so much you'll stay. That you will love me anyway."

He sang this lovely song for me in 2002 on Valentine's Day and gave me a piece of paper with a couple picture drawn on it with cute stick figures. The sparkle in his eyes waited for my YES and I was moved by his innocence..The Cupid's arrow pierced my heart even deeper when I read this poem he had composed for me ~~
The love he showered me on that Valentine's Day 12 yrs back is still being sprinkled on me with utmost care bcz I could not afford to miss breathing in so much of true love to live happily with him...and that 'special' person became the 'most important' person in my life as we tied a knot in 2005. Since then, no day had been less than a Valentine’s Day for us that brings along an undeniable feeling of love inspite of the silly fights we have on stupid issues ;) But having that someone special by my side who takes care of my every whim and fancy is truly a dream realized with God's grace..

Our Valentine's celebration completely avoids the plasticky, artificial feel of pretending like teenaged love birds bcz no added pleasure can be experienced by spending beyond our limits on one specific day; but definitely I would keep my thoughts centered upon those things to make my soulmate's memories to be sweeter and longer-lasting this year too...

I am eager to accompany my man to a less-visited serene yet lovey-dovey exotic location away from home (and ofcourse office) to discover a new element to our relationship.... where I want to wake him up with the sight of me standing in front of his bed with a bouquet of Yellow n Red Roses and a handwritten love-note with those touchy couplet composed by me that is bound to make his heart melt and earn me a 'kiss-of-love' to begin the day on a sweeter note ;) And hey! my man is a foodie to the core and so every meal of the day MUST be nothing, but the best from his favourite food list...Though we enjoy cooking together at home when he gets some leisurely moments, but frankly I don't want to involve any of us in cooking on V'Day rather I am planning getting the PERSONALIZED food prepared at the place we are enjoying our day with certain modifications suggested by me to the original recipe to fill his day as well as his tummy  with delight ;) :P

Now for getting ready for some scenic outing at the romantic destination, I will not miss the opportunity to reveal how I would look like in a bit tempting attire of his choice to get my guy in the mood ;) We may not gaze at each other for hours, but would catch up with light conversation to fill up the silence between us because the day of love is incomplete without expressing the deep feelings of affection that we hold for each other....

I know it would sound idiotic to you, but I won't buy any surprise gift for my beloved hubby... hmmm the surprise gifts usually create quarrelsome situations when he doesn't like using the gift I give. Though I know his likes n dislikes exactly, but would prefer taking him along to the multiproduct store to buy a gift that his heart smile on, else it can be a better idea to explore some exclusive V'Day gifting guide at online shopping destinations like Baggout.Needless to say, I may even cut out some expense this way without messing up the celebration :) A cozy cuddly hug in his arms to re-live the tale of our romance will recreate the moments that made me fall in love with him..

True Love needs no hugs, kisses or winks,
When our hearts beat in perfect sync :)
I wish to conclude the day of love with a promise to zest up each other's life with countless reasons to add bright sunshine to our steadfast n meaningful relationship. Ameen!!

Letter to Santa this Christmas

Dear Santa,

Let me begin with a note of THANKS for your kind blessings n merriment that u showered on me throughout the last year and never let it fade out.
This year also I hope u would listen to my prayers that come packed with my honest wishes in the form of this self-composed poem ….

Blessed are these days, when we hear your bells tinkling.
Kids excitedly waiting for u, with their bright eyes twinkling.
You give not only wonderful gifts to us, but a message to whole-heartedly share.
Indeed, I admire all your true love n efforts, That shows how much you care.
This Christmas, here’s what I wish to be granted,
Just a seed of compassion in my heart to be planted.
Give me the 'willingness' to support the people so needy,
For their sincere blessings only, I find myself greedy.
Give me the 'courage' to believe in ‘All Good and No Sin’,
coz imbibing these virtues in life will certainly let me win.
May these gifts of Christmas add joy to my senses.
I long for blissful life and no boastful fancies….
I’m gazing at the starry sky n expecting that u wud land at my place :)

Your Loving Child.

Pouring Some More Food In Akshaya Patra

I was making my eight-years old understand the meaning of the newly taught topic in Hindi i.e. "Muhaavre" and he was not able to relate the given idiomatic phrases with their meanings. I was cursing this English speaking culture in my heart that the kids these days are not even familiar with these commonly used idioms which we  knew in their age without being taught formally.

During the course of this session with my junior, I came across the idiom "Bhojan Bina Bhajan Bhi Nahi Hota" to which my boy immediately replied "Mumma, I have understood its meaning. Like when I go to school without eating my breakfast and cannot concentrate on studies, similarly those who don't get tummyful of food can also find it difficult to perform their responsibilities properly.

I was astonished that this young mind could so easily relate to this phrase with a problem which he has experienced himself...I patted on his back for applying his mind in studies and giving appropriate reply.... But there was a sudden sense of realization & a sort of reminder to me that I've not yet thought of contributing in Akshaya Patra activity of BlogAdda that is aimed at sponsoring meals of one entire year for an underprivileged school kid via each blog post we write.

I knew I have to be socially responsible enough to utilize my time, effort and skills to help turn their lives around and end classroom hunger in India.

Hunger is a “huge distraction” in the classroom and affects miserably in learning. A hungry child actually cannot think of anything else but of food. No focus on the teacher's talk, behavioral problems, inattentive mind n what not... Hunger often becomes a red flag for academic performance. :(

I personally being a teacher for many years now have observed that the Classroom Hunger is not as obviously visible as we expect. It takes perceptive teachers to put the pieces together and seek the root cause of why certain child is not paying attention to the lesson.

Confronting hunger problem with free community meals deserving children can be one strategy by the school administrations, but if the problems opens bigger mouth then the innovative ideas to conduct effective food-collection programs on larger scale by the local authorities must be implemented.

Human chains can be formed in the schools' territories to spread the noble message of volunteering in community kitchens serving meals before and after school hours. Non-profit organization can come up for forming the policies to advocate the need of helping the hungry children not only to survive, but also to thrive. Because If we are concerned about how well the children perform in school, we have to be compassionate about the fact whether they are hungry...”

When the worries of getting something to eat will be taken care of, the whole present n future generation will be scoring higher in academics as well as social activities.

The following lines can be recited in the meanwhile..

The India of our dreams is a matrix of perfection,
Self-reliant, compound & with an unshakeable foundation.
From every nook and corner, Classroom Hunger has to vanish,
Oh then only, this flame of Knowledge can't dare to banish.
Our dream can turn into our future so bright,
Just serve some food with Basic Education's Right.
So I feel proud to do a good deed today and wish that this Akshaya Patra remains filled and leaves no child hungry ever in India.

I am going to #BlogToFeedAChild with Akshaya Patra and BlogAdda.
