Chikankari Chronicles: Weaving Traditions at House of Chikankari

As the festive season is approaching, I was on a hunt for an attire for my office's ethnic day celebration. My desire for the perfect ethnic attire got little more fueled coz it's my birthday month too. 🎉

Amidst the myriad options that I explored in ethnic range, Chikankari suits felt like an epitome of grace and timeless charm. Actually I've always been fascinated by the intricate hand-embroidery which is the main characteristic of Lucknawi chikan work.

While searching for an elegant chikankari suit, it crossed my mind that I had seen House of Chikankari making a striking appearance on Shark Tank 2 show, leaving a lasting impression on me with their inspiring story. The elegance and innovation showcased during their pitch were truly impressive, so I decided to explore their collection as it was the best time to shop. 🛍️

Welcome to the enchanting world of House of Chikankari

HOC is an online portal which celebrates the timeless artistry of Chikankari embroidery, a craft that weaves stories through every thread and stitch. Their curated collection is a captivating blend of tradition and contemporary style making their clothing a canvas of cultural richness.

Other than kurtas and suit sets, their clothing is available in a spectrum of styles like Angrakhas, Shirts, Co-Ord Sets, Gowns, Kaftans, Dresses etc that would effortlessly suit preferences of modern women. And the brand offers all these outfits in fabrics like Mulmul, Modal, Chanderi, Muslin, Georgette, Cotton, Silk, Velvet, Rayon, Kota, Crepe etc so that one can pick as per their comfort and liking.

How my order looked like?
Captivated by the allure of ethnic threads, I found myself drawn to the sophistication that Chikankari can bring to my festive wardrobe and finally placed an order of not just one, but two pretty outfits. 👚

The order was shipped  within 24 hrs and got delivered on the third day itself which is pretty commendable. 👏 The order came packed in a biodegradable and compostable bag and the clothes were kept in a potli inside.

What's inside?

The first item that I bought is the Marya Chikankari Rayon Straight Kurta Set which consists of a long straight kurta in rayon cotton fabric in teal green color with a white pant which makes a perfect contrast. The kurta has beautiful hand-embroidery on the yolk, back & sleeves. Its rayon fabric has a smooth, silky texture with a sheen and is so breathable that it feels luxurious against the skin.

The other piece that I ordered is the Juman Chikankari Mulmul Sleeveless Straight Kurta. The kurta is 100% hand-embroidered and has beautiful floral motifs all over the printed mulmul fabric. The lace work on its neckline, armholes and hemline is an added gracious element.

Mulmul fabric, also known as muslin, makes it an ideal choice for those seeking both style and ease. The floral patterns intricately printed onto the fabric gives a touch of nature's beauty, creating a harmonious blend of sophistication and simplicity to the outfit. It can be paired with white or lime coloured bottom as per mood. Wearing this kurta creates an impression of a lovely breezy summer day and promises leaving a mark with its refined aesthetics.

Final words:
Overall, shopping at HOC was a delightful experience. Navigating through their user-friendly website or the elegantly designed store, it felt like embarking on a fashion journey. The premium quality of the products and service has surpassed my expectations, leaving me with not just new additions to my wardrobe but a sense of satisfaction.
Also, I would like to mention that HOC also has a marvelous range of Menswear for the men in the house, who're keen to slay in their festive look.
