SaND for Soapaholics Yellow Submarine Shampoo Scone Review

How would you like a cascade of strong tresses rippling against your shoulders as you take a stroll in the sunshine?

I am referring an excellent hair care product from a recently discovered brand 'SaND For Soapaholics' and that is Yellow Submarine Shampoo Scone.

Product Details: SaND For Soapaholics has concocted a combination with Tea Tree Essential Oil and Neem Oil, which not only enhances your prized locks with renewed gloss and volume, but also liberates them from those dreaded dandruff flakes. And wait, that’s not all! The addition of Jojoba Oil and Walnut Oil gifts your scalp with an everlasting soothing affect. Finally, the revitalizing properties of Geranium Essential Oil and Turmeric leave your hair with the bounce you always craved for!

Recommended for: All hair types. Especially beneficial for sensitive & problem scalps.

Ingredients: Every 10gm contains Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (74.50%), Vegetable Glycerine (7.78%), Oil mix of Neem Seed (Azadirachta indica), Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis), Turmeric Rhizome (Curcuma longa) & Walnut Fruit (Juglans regia) (3.11%), Phenoxyethanol (1.00%), Ess.Oil blend of Geranium (Pelargonium Odorantissimum) & Tea Tree Aerial part (Melaleuca leucadendron) (0.62%), Extract of Turmeric Rhizome (Curcuma longa) (0.23%)

Directions to use: Wet your hair; rub the bar through the hair few times. Give the bar a quick rinse and keep aside. Rinse your hair thoroughly.

Weight n Price: Rs. 430 per 65 gms.

My experience with the product:
Before I could get my hands on this shampoo scone, I was not aware of any herbal personal care brand making these solid shampoos too, other than liquid ones. During my exploration of the SaND For Soapaholics collection, I was enticed to give it a try because the scones reminded me of yesteryears when mom used to have shampoo bars at home and trusted them like anything. Frankly speaking, I had my apprehensions of using the scones as I have completely forgotten about ages old system of shampoo bars and found it inappropriate for today's self care system. But at the same time, I expected that so much of advancement in crafting these chemical free products must have got something special in it.

Finally, here is how I felt about a shampoo scone after its usage. I received Yellow Submarine Shampoo Scone which is a lovely bright yellow shampoo cake cut in triangular shape.
Pic taken from official website
(The pic above is taken from official website, as my shampoo scone got broken into pieces during transit.)
The first glimpse of the scone and everyone was like its a dessert ready to be tasted ;) It looks so tempting I swear and you need real courage to resist your craving to take a bite.

The scone is infused with divine scent. As I smelt it, it was quite strong fragrance that remained there on my fingers for next few minutes. The fragrance gives a feel of something pure and natural, not weird as chemical ones.

I was extremely excited to try the scone on my hair, so tried it the very next morning. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked on my tresses. It took no time to produce rich lather as I rubbed it on my wet hair few times. I never realized that its a solid shampoo cake in use. The creamy lather felt soft n smooth on hair.

Another plus that I experienced using the scone was quicker shower as it eliminated the need of using a rinse-off conditioner after the head bath. I was so happy with the outcome that the shampoo scone was no longer stripping my hair of all it’s natural oils and I won't need to walk around with unclean hair.

The fragrance which I found strong as I sniffed the bar, doesn't actually linger on for long but a mild effect is left behind in your locks. The hair length as well as the scalp is nourished with revitalizing properties of excellent ingredients and natural oils gone into the scone.

Pros:
Uplifting Scent.
Cute Color.
Rich Lather.
Gives optimum hair cleansing.
Easy to rinse off.
Enriched with premium oils

Cons:
Very Expensive
Not easily available.

Sand for Soapaholics Drunken Locks Shampoo Review

Hi

Today's review is again a natural product for hair care. It a liquid shampoo called Drunken Locks that comes from Sand for Soapaholics range that I introduced few days ago.

Product Claims:  Drunken Locks promises to give you a beauty buzz like never before! With the trifecta of hair as our star ingredient, the malt and yeast in our fresh brewed Beer will leave your hair silky, shiny and bouncy! To give you a thorough scrub Aloe Vera Gel is added which also acts with the Castor Oil to weigh down frizz and give your hair the shape and body it so deserves. To complete this shampoo, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is added to soothe your scalp and calm your mind.

Recommended for: All hair types. Perfect for when you want more volume!

Directions to use: Apply on wet hair, massage gently and rinse off.
Ingredients: Every 10gm contains Barley Seed Liq. (Hordeum vulgare) (39.10%), Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (22.02%), Distilled Water (12.02%), Aloe vera Leaf Gel (8.93%), Oil blend of Coconut Endosperm (Cocos nucifera) & Castor Seed (Ricinus communis) (3.93%), Phenoxyethanol (0.89%), Ess.Oil blend of Tea Tree Leaf (Melaleuca leucadendron), Juniperberry Fruit (Juniperus communis) & Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) (0.44%), Colour (0.09%)

Price:Rs. 246 for 60 gm
Rs. 492 for 120 gm
Rs. 2050 for 500 gm

Availability: You can buy it here

Packaging: The shampoo came in a usual plastic bottle. The transparent bottle shows the content from outside. There is a screw cap on the bottle neck. I found the bottle little uncomfortable to use when trying to pour out the shampoo, because you tend to take out much more than required quantity. The packaging also gives no detail of the ingredients.Though I expect the full-sized packaging would be considering these issues.
My experience:
The shampoo is in nice pinkish color with brown tint in it. The shampoo is not as thick as usual shampoos sold in the market. Its neither of very runny consistency, so I found it quite the proper liquidity to smear and rub on hair as well as scalp. I could actually relate the color and consistency of Drunken Locks to the freshly made Guava juice in a bottle ;)

The fragrance is absolutely uplifting. I liked how refreshing and herbal feel it gives as you smell it. The fragrance actually remains locked in your tresses even after hours of head bath and makes you feel good.
The shampoo produced no lather on my hair as I massaged it on my wet hair. In course of taking out the dirt, grime and oil from my hair, I ended up using almost one third quantity of the shampoo from the bottle. Sadly, it could not perform to my expectations in terms of cleaning the scalp and hair. The strands felt not completely cleansed. Though I believe the mildness of the shampoo due to the less usage of surfactant will be suitable to sensitive skinned people.

My family members also gave it a try to check if it suits the texture of their hair. I generated very mild lather on very-short hair of my son n hubby that works towards gentle cleansing of the hair.
Overall, I am not very happy with the product on my hair, but can recommend for short hair. The shampoo has no harmful constituents that would cause itching or irritation of scalp. It is little ineffective to cleanse the hair, but doesn't strip hair of it's natural oils.

Pros:
No chemicals
Not animal tested.
Suitable for all hair types.
Smells lovely.
Can be used on daily basis.
Causes no itching.

Cons:
Very mild lather.
Quite expensive.
Need a lot of quantity for long hair.

Hellozz

I am back with another product review that comes from a brand that is new to me and I have used the first product from their range.

About the Brand:
'SaND for Soapaholics' is the concept of Founder and Chief Crafter Sangeeta that came into existence in August 2014. Their range of products include natural artisan soaps, moisturizers, body creams, shampoos, conditioners etc. Inspired by traditional Indian home remedies for skin care, their creations contain ingredients like fresh ground nuts, fresh turmeric (ambe haldi), finger millet (ragi), gram flour (besan) and several other such skin-friendly ingredients available in most Indian kitchens and gardens. These ingredients are then blended with essential oils and exotic infusions such as goat milk, buttermilk, saffron infused water etc. Not only is their entire product range made from scratch, using quality ingredients, but we also do it all by hand, from mixing and blending, to curing and packaging. Once you buy a SaND product, you will get hooked!

Product Claims:
Hair & Glory is a hair conditioner for all occasions and an exquisite mix of ingredients that satisfies all hair types. The magic of this conditioner lies in the Tender Coconut Water, which not only quenches dry and frizzy hair but also improves blood circulation to the scalp. To breathe life into those tresses an herb in-fallible to hair care Nagarmota Oil is added which takes conditioning to the next level by strengthening your hair follicles. Then Ghavla Kachra Powder has also been sprinkled in to protect your glory that is known for its Ayurvedic antiseptic properties! To complete this masterpiece, the scintillating Peppermint Essential Oil has been we’ve blended that will leave you and everyone around you minty fresh!

(Curcuma zedoaria) (0.92%)

Rs. 168 for 30 gm.
Rs. 280 for 50 gm.
Rs. 560 for 100 gm.
Buy online here or from the store at Garuda Mall, Bangalore.

Packaging:The conditioner comes in a flattened plastic tub packaging in gold hues and bears a tight screw cap on it. The sample pack that I received doesn't lists any ingredients details on it, but I am sure the full-sized packs would have the same,

My Experience:
Hair & Glory is a metallic gray colored hair conditioner which actually leaves you stunned in the first look ;) Even I myself have never seen or used a beauty product that is of such unusual color. But honestly telling you, I didn't put me off, rather turned on my curiosity as to how would that perform..

The appearance of the conditioner gave me a feeling that it would be having some coarse granules in it, may be because I found it similar to sand's color ;) But when I took out little quantity on my finger and rubbed it between my thumb and finger, I realized its quite smooth and creamy. The consistency is just the appropriate that can be applied easily and evenly on hair.
Coming to the scent used, I swear its fragrance is so herbal & minty refreshing, but on strong notes. Some of you might find it not so appealing, but I liked it without any complaints.

After shampooing my hair, I squeezed excess water from my hair, applied a small measure of the conditioner on my wet hair & then using my fingertips rubbed it onto my roots. I left the conditioner on the scalp and then extended through the lengths and ends of my hair for 2-3 minutes. I could feel a cooling effect on my scalp with conditioner on the hair which I believe is due to Peppermint Essential Oil in the formulation. Lastly I rinsed my hair well, combed through and styled as usual. I was liking the lovely fragrance in my tresses even the next day post head bath.

The aftereffects of the conditioner included soft and moisturized hair as promised by the ingredients like Tender Coconut Water, though I felt my hair weighed down a bit. My hair felt easy to detangle and more manageable. The conditioner worked effectively on the dry ends of my hair and kept them softer.

I have used it only thrice for my alternate day head bath and I believe its continuous usage will make my hair lustrous.

Pros:
Herbal Ingredients.
Suits all hair types.
Moisturizes the hair.
Smells lovely.
Can be used for everyday mild conditioning.
Cruelty free.
Proper consistency.
Gives shine to rough hair.
Doesn't itch the scalp.

Cons:
Availability can be an issue.
Would be much safer in a bottle packaging.
Pricey (but any thing better comes for a price, you see)

Overall Views:
Sand For Soapaholics Hair & Glory Conditioner is one of the great hair conditioners that is chemical free and is infused with exotic skin-safe ingredients. It actually does what it claims by offering you glorious & strong hair with gentle touch.
