Herbal India Face Pack Powder Review

Come summer and my facial skin starts to itch. I usually relate it to seasonal allergic causes. But whatever is the reason, I need to soothe my skin by applying packs, masks, moisturizers or something that gives cooling effect as and when possible. No wonder, I avoid using any harsh cleansers and make a shift to herbal products that don't have side effects. I have tried and tested many products that may give relief to my dry, itchy skin this point of season specially. Today I'll review a face pack from Herbal India Products.

The face pack powder is packed in large silver pouch made of a thick polybag like material. I expected it to be a pouch with zip lock, but it has normal seal on it which when cut for the first time leave the pouch opened forever :/ I mean, there is no provision to leave the remaining product just in this pouch and you need to find yourself a container to transfer n store the product. So the packaging part holds a 'con' from me.

I met with a strong herbal smell right after opening the seal of pouch. After getting much used-to with these scents in all these years while testing the products, it was really unusual for me to get an irritated nose. Those who like herbal fragrances may find it good.

The face pack itself is a finely milled dry powder in yellow color with brown tint to it. The product owes its color from its composition of choicest natural ingredients like haldi powder, almond seed, red chandan, narangi peel etc. Refer the pic below for detailed list of ingredients. The facepack is priced at INR 1500 for 250 gm.

The face pack can be used for all skin types. Those with oily skin type can mix the powder with plain water or rose water and the ones with dry skin can mix it with milk. I opted for milk and it took just a spoonful (tbsp) of powder to spread on entire face and neck.

It took less than expected time to dry on my skin and started getting hardened within ten minutes. Its good to rinse it off with light strokes of rubbing on skin as it starts stretching over the skin. Despite my dislike for its packaging and smell, I loved the outcome. The clear skin and instant glow really don't go unnoticed after you wash you face. The glow doesn't remain permanently but if one makes this face pack a part of cleansing routine, the even toned skin is not an unbelievable dream. The beauties with dry skin would definitely need to top up the skin with a good dose of moisturizer afterwards, and oily skinned people may enjoy the brightened skin as it is.

I'd like to continue the use of this face pack because I evaluate the performance of the product more than few of its attributes that matter lesser.

Derma Sunshine Blend Morning Cream is light peach colored cream. The soft floral fragrance is pleasant to smell. The thick consistency of the cream feels uneasy to blend, but as you take out little quantity and massage it on cleansed face in form of tiny dots, it gets much easier to smoothly blend it into skin. I have used many facial creams from Herbal India and I realize that they always do the improvisation in the product to make it more acceptable by the skin. This time Derma Sunshine has come with better moisturization, so its a good news for people having dry skin like mine.

Upon application, it leaves minor white cast on skin, but that is just a matter of few minutes and your face glows with smooth finish. I totally adore the immediate radiance that this cream gives to my face. The plus point here is that radiant effect on the skin lasts almost the whole day without fading away or without retouching. 

During the day time, our skin is much more prone to environmental stresses including harmful sun rays. Derma sunshine, being a day cream, is loaded with SPF 50 to focus on protection from damaging UV rays. That simply means you need not to use a sunscreen separately. 

If you are one of those who wear makeup everyday, make sure to apply this cream under your makeup. Because its light and non-greasy formula provides a oil-free makeup base to retain your makeup in place for longer.

Derma Renew Cream is packaged in a beautiful cardboard box in white & blue color theme. As you open the magnetic closure of the cardboard box, a pretty crystal tub pack with golden top lid sits inside. The lid has an inner disc under it and the product name is labeled on the top. The Derma Renew cream is off white in color. The consistency of the cream is more viscose and firm than usual creams. Even if you turn the pack upside down, the product won't move/spill at all. The other creams by the brands that I have tried earlier are of similar degree of thickness.

The firm texture of the cream makes it a task to spread the cream evenly on skin. You cannot rub the cream between your palms and apply on face. The better way is to put cream on face in dots and then gently spread with finger tips until it merges well. The cream leaves a white cast upon application but it disappears in some time as the cream is completely absorbed.

The plastic jar has an inner white container that won't let you see the cream from outside. The tub has a tight screw cap on the top and an inner white disc cap to keep the content safe in the packing. The screw cap gets properly locked in slight twist only.

Look N Feel of the product:

Derma Sunshine Herbal Whitening Cream is a pale peach colored cream. The consistency is not that thick as of Derma Green or Derma Green Plus creams which I used and reviewed earlier. Infact I appreciate this change in the cream because I am more comfortable now taking out the cream from the container and then blend it with much ease. 

The cream smells slightly strong on spicy notes but doesn't trouble me. I may rather describe it as actual 'herbal' kinda fragrance. 

How do I apply a day cream:

I always take care to apply any day cream in correct manner to realize its full benefit, so I did with this cream too. I wash my face thoroughly to remove dirt, oil or makeup and make sure it is properly clean before I begin the application otherwise these can prohibit desired results. 

Then I take out a small amount of cream which is not as less as to cover my face and neck, and not too much to absorb fully into the skin. 

To ensure even application all over the facial area, I gently dot the cream on face and extend it till the neckline.

Lastly, I tap the areas dotted by cream with a light gentle motion to help the day cream penetrate the skin.

Result I got from Derma Sunshine Herbal Whitening Cream:

As I started using Derma Sunshine day cream, it started showing immediate result since day one. The cream leaves the skin bright and glowing instantly. I cannot see any white cast on the skin if you blend it carefully, neither it leaves behind that undesired shine on skin. By saying 'carefully', I mean to convey that this cream is not of a consistency of usual moisturizer, so the dotted application needs to be followed for best appearance. With prolonged usage, the cream considerably minimizes any kind of dark spots and the changes are clearly visible by everybody :)

The ingredients like Lemon Extract definitely contribute in skin lightening, though it should not be expected as an overnight miracle. 

I appreciate the SPF 50 added in the formulation that blocks an estimated 98% of UVB rays and provide strong sunburn protection even to people who are most sensitive to sunburn.This cream can definitely eliminate the need of a sunscreen separately.

How did I like the product:
The Derma Green Plus impressed me with its floral fragrance and minty green color in the first glimpse. The cream is of the consistency as thick as a face pack. Even if you flip the pack upside down by mistake, rest assure that the content won't spill off :)

The brand recommends to apply the Derma Green Plus Herbal Whitening Cream as an overnight leave-on face mask on the face. So I applied the cream all over my face as well as neck area, which is exposed to all kinds of environmental issues most of the time. It took me a bit of effort to spread the thick cream on my skin so that it properly penetrates the skin.

The next morning I swiped off the cream from my face using wet cotton. After following the similar practice for almost 20 days now, the cream has imparted a visible glow to my skin.
